Case #2950

March 3rd

Donna Kilpatrick: I like your room

Grayson Haley-Grace: Thank you…D-Do you know Ms. Caitlin or…

Donna Kilpatrick: Caitlin Bell ? Yes, she’s one of my colleagues. She's on leave today. Do you know her?

Grayson Haley-Grace: Yeah—yes. I was just asking because she came the last two times so I didn’t know if she like got fired or like got a new job or something…I was just curious.

Donna Kilpatrick: So, you’re an old pro at these interviews, huh ?

Grayson Haley-Grace:  Yeah—um, yes. Yes, ma’am.

Donna Kilpatrick: I know we’ve been bugging you but we want to make sure you're happy. Today I just want to check in on your relationship with your stepfather, Luce Grace.

Grayson Haley-Grace: Oh. Uh, okay ? Um...Luce isn't my stepdad. He's just my dad. We get along okay…he helps me with my homework and makes sure I do everything for school.

Donna Kilpatrick: With you in online school and him working from home you must spend a lot of time together. Does he ever show you what he does for work ?

Grayson Haley-Grace: No…oh wait, I mean yes. Oh. I mean…I meant that sometimes he shows me boring computer stuff…but it’s just code. Sorry! I wasn’t lying when I said 'no' I just didn’t know what the question meant. Sorry.

Donna Kilpatrick: That's okay. Do you feel safe with him ?

Grayson Haley-Grace: Yes, ma’am.

Donna Kilpatrick: Has he ever made you feel uncomfortable or hurt you ?

Grayson Haley-Grace: Uh…yes ?

Donna Kilpatrick: Grayson ? You can stand up if you need to get some jitters out.

Grayson Haley-Grace: I just get confused because sometimes you guys ask me things and if I don’t say what you already know it looks like I’m lying.

Donna Kilpatrick: I just want your perspective.

Grayson Haley-Grace: He hit me once…but I used to be bad. Like really bad. I learned my lesson and I don't do bad stuff anymore. So…he...wait, what was the question ?

Donna Kilpatrick: What about before he was your Dad ? When you were younger? How was your relationship ?

Grayson Haley-Grace: It was okay.

Donna Kilpatrick: I know it's hard for children to see their parents date. You start to feel secondary. But if something did happen we’d want to get Luce help too. Even if it was a long time ago.

Grayson Haley-Grace: My parents were together before I was born so—Oh. Shit. Ahh!—I’m sorry. I said a bad word, I’m sorry—

Donna Kilpatrick: It’s okay, you can express yourself.

Grayson Haley-Grace: Okay…um can I ask a question. Are you here because Mrs. Matthews or Mrs. O’Dell reported Luce did something to me when I was a kid ? Oh my god, this was them, wasn’t it ?

Donna Kilpatrick: Why don’t you go ahead.

Grayson Haley-Grace: This is kind of funny. When I was younger, Luce like couldn’t sit a lot so we ate on the pull out couch. Well, except he had a feeding tube. It’s like a clear tube thing—which is important. So, anyway when I was like…7  we got to draw a picture of what we did over the weekend—which for me was just watch movies on the pull out couch with my dads. I drew the feeding tube…um…badly. I decided the clear feeding tube should be flesh colored and the formula is like white….ugh.

Anyway the class mom sent me right to the school psychiatrist and Dad explained the picture and he thought it was hilarious. But all the Merryhill PTA moms, like Mrs. Matthews and Mrs. O’Dell, never got over it. They were convinced it was proof of child abuse or something.

Their kids, my old classmates, told their moms about Ms.Imogen's reddit post and viral stuff and they decided to report something that happened a decade ago. I guess they think they are helping ? But they say really mean stuff about my Dad all day like they don't have lives. They think he's the reason I was such a fuck up.

Donna Kilpatrick: Grayson...how do you know all this ?

Grayson Haley-Grace: Ummm, in middle school my friend Brixton set up the Facebook group for the Merryhilll Moms of Class ’23. He still gets all the post notifications. He thought it was funny they were talking about reporting that picture. We didn't think they'd actually call CPS...But I mean, nothing happened.

Donna Kilpatrick: Okay. Why don’t you come with me—

Grayson Haley-Grace: It’s the truth!  No one has ever touched me, why won’t anyone believe me! You should be with people who actually need help, I will run away before you put me foster car—

Donna Kilpatrick: I was going to say come with me outside. That way you can work out some energy. It’s okay, honey, calm down. Come on, let’s go for a walk.

Alex Haley: Oh, that was quick! Ms. Donna can you sign this form, I just need proof that this was mandatory so I can get paid for my long lunch--

Donna Kilpatrick: Oh, Grayson and I aren’t done just yet. We’re going for a short walk. Where did I leave my sweater. Here. Okay, come on Grayson.

Alex Haley:  Is she fucking kidding me with this ? I have to go back to work.

Luce Grace: Calm d--

Alex Haley: Don’t you dare tell me to calm down or I’ll give you an actual case of criminal neglect to report.

Luce Grace: Fuck you, Alex—

Alex Haley: Novel idea. Can't remember the last time you did that—

Luce Grace: Is that the reason you're being a bitch today ?

Alex Haley: I'm not being a bitch. But I love how the one time I want to be on top you fall asleep on me like--

Luce Grace: You know what time I take a sleeping pill every night--

Alex Haley: Fine. I'll start scheduling when I get horny like I have to schedule everything else--no, actually it’s fine, baby I actually think we should keep this up for a few more months so we can have a whole year without fucking--

Luce Grace: Fucking each other you mean ?

Alex Haley: Do you really want to talk about that right now? Fuck it, I’m going back to work. I only have two hours of leave left, if they need anything from me just call me. What did you do with my--where the fuck are my key—---oh, fuck!

Luce Grace: ...What is that ? Alex? Alex? Lex. Babe--

Alex Haley: I think that’s her recorder.

Luce Grace: Please tell me that’s not fucking on.
